Privacy Policy
Scroll the Church Fathers is an app published by Lampstand Digital LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect when you use the app and this website, why, and the choices you have. In short: an account is optional, we collect only what the app needs to work, and we do not track you, show ads or sell your data.
Using the app without an account
You can read without signing in. When you are signed out, your saves, notes, reading position, settings and daily usage counts stay on your device. We do not receive them. The app downloads Scripture and Fathers text from our servers, which, like any web server, briefly process your IP address to answer the request.
Accounts
Signing in is optional. You can sign in with a one-time email code, with Sign in with Apple, or with Google. When you do, we store:
- your email address;
- your name, if the sign-in provider shares one;
- an internal user ID that links your account to the data below;
- your app preferences, such as translation, theme and text size.
Email sign-in codes are sent through Resend, an email delivery service, which receives your email address only to deliver the code. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may give us a private relay address instead of your real one.
What we store for signed-in users
- Free accounts: daily counters of how many times you opened the Fathers on a verse and the Septuagint compare, used to apply the free daily limits.
- Premium accounts: your saved verses and quotes, your notes and your reading position, synced so they appear on all your devices.
This data is held by Convex, our backend provider, on servers in the United States. Your notes are private to you; nothing you write is shared with other users.
Purchases
Premium is bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Apple and Google process the payment; we never see or store your card or bank details. RevenueCat, our subscription service, tells us whether your account has Premium, keyed to your internal user ID. We keep a record of each store transaction (the store, the product, a transaction ID and the status message RevenueCat sends) so your access stays correct.
No tracking
The app has no ads, no advertising identifiers and no analytics SDK. We do not sell or share your personal data, and we do not use it to track you across other apps or websites. This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. It loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the page loads.
Service providers
We use these providers only to run the app, and only with the data each one needs:
- Convex: database and backend (account and synced data).
- Resend: delivery of email sign-in codes.
- Apple and Google: sign-in, if you choose them, and in-app purchases.
- RevenueCat: subscription status.
- Vercel: hosting for this website.
Deleting your account
In the app, open Settings, then Delete account. This removes your account and all synced data (profile, preferences, saves, notes, reading position and usage counters) right away. You can also ask us to delete it by emailing support@scrollthechurchfathers.com from the address on your account. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription; cancel that in your App Store or Google Play settings.
Retention
We keep account data until you delete your account. Usage counters are kept per day and serve no purpose after the day ends. Purchase records may be kept after deletion where we need them for accounting, tax or fraud prevention. Data on your device stays there until you remove it or uninstall the app.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal data, or to object to how we use it. Email us and we will help. We will not treat you differently for asking.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the effective date. If a change is significant, we will also tell you in the app.
